ABOUT GUNCHA
Guncha Foundation was founded on 21 May 2017 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with registration No. 1225 as an initiative by a group of individuals passionate about working with underprivileged children, to help them live their dreams. Witnessing the stories of children on streets and imagining the situation of the vulnerable children led to the inception of this organization. The organization is driven by the idea that every child has the right to education, health, information, play and to be loved and cared. The goal is to enhance the childhood experience of vulnerable children and integrate them with the society.
Guncha Foundation lays its base on the principle of learning through the lens of experience and exploration. Believing in the positive impact of education and creative arts on the children, the organization uses different mediums such as non-formal education, play and art based therapeutic approaches. This unique approach of the project addresses the needs of the children in the critical dimensions of development such as cognition, behavior and social skills.
FROM THE DESK OF THE FOUNDER
With great pleasure I wish to put on record the historic background of the inception and development of Guncha Foundation. Guncha Foundation came into existence as a result of my passionate desire to dedicate myself for the cause of humanity with utmost sincerity and fine skills that the task demands.
Such desire could develop in me due to the positive impact of my father’s selflessly dedicated life in the service of people. His leadership qualities and fearless but humble approach in reaching to the victims for rehabilitation and restoration of peace and prosperity, inspired me.
I went to a residential school in Aurangabad in the sixth standard. There, I developed interest in sports and through football I reached national championship and developed team spirit and leadership qualities.
I used to distribute all the money that I earned from playing football amongst the poor people. This gave me immense self satisfaction. This led to my admission to ‘Bachelors in Social Work’ degree course at the department of social work Jamia. Subsequently, I did my M A in Social Work from the same institution. When I landed into the domain of professional social work I came in constant contact with lot of NGOs and social work institutes and activists. I did clothes collection campaign for the Muzaffarnagar riot victims as one of the campaigns head. Also with experience from working with different groups of people, I realized my passion in working with children. Finally, after a rigorous thought process, I decided to start an independent organisation that can channelize the energy of my social work fraternity and my friendship circle and address the issues of children in Delhi. I founded “Guncha” with a confidence that the almighty has bestowed his blessings on me to do so. My aim is to help every child secure his/her childhood and locate him/her in a healthy environment.
